The debates over the last few months have been agonizing, especially before they instituted a mute the mic option for moderators. So it’s a very refreshing change of pace to watch someone concisely destroy their opponent in their allotted time, especially when the person being eviscerated is a guy like Georgia’s Senator David Perdue.
Georgia Democratic Senate candidate Jon Ossoff has become an overnight sensation after a clip of him calling Perdue’s insider trading and tragic response to COVID-19 went viral on Twitter. During their recent debate, Ossoff went in on the many hypocrisies and failures of his rival, all while Perdue looks increasingly uncomfortable standing in silence next to him.
“Perhaps Senator Perdue would have been able to respond properly to the Covid-19 pandemic if you hadn’t been fending off multiple federal investigations for insider trading,” says Ossoff.
He added, “It’s not just that you’re a crook, senator. It’s that you’re attacking the health of the people that you represent.”

It appears that Perdue has cried off on meeting with Ossoff on the debate stage again, which Ossoff tweeted about on Thursday.
In a statement reported by the Independent, Perdue’s spokesman John Burke said the senator is skipping the debate to attend a Donald Trump rally.
“As lovely as another debate listening to Jon Ossoff lie to the people of Georgia sounds, Sen Perdue will not be participating in the WSB-TV debate but will instead join the 45th president, Donald J Trump, for a huge Get-Out-The-Vote rally in Northwest Georgia,” said Burke in a statement.
