Biden Team Plans To Mist Entire White House With Disinfectant After Trump Leaves

A White House General Services Administration spokesperson told Politico that the Joe Biden transition team is planning a thorough disinfecting of both wings of the White House as soon as Donald Trump is out of there. Out of an abundance of caution, in part because Trump is apparently spending all of December throwing maskless parties there, they have even reportedly hired service to coat everything in sight in disinfectant.

According to the GSA spokesperson, their disinfecting team “will go over every part of the White House’s East and West Wings touched by human hands in the hours after Trump departs and Biden moves in.” Furthermore, they plan to hire a private contractor for “disinfectant misting services” to wipe out any remaining COVID-infested droplets.

President-elect Biden is 78 and has so far avoided contracting the novel coronavirus, leaving him somewhat at risk if he was to be exposed before he can receive a vaccine regimen. Biden has exercised recommended levels of caution around the pandemic, while Trump and his team have flouted CDC advice, mocked mask use, and held many crowded indoor events as part of his campaign.

Biden, meanwhile, recently released a three-point plan for tackling the remainder of the pandemic, including a potential 100-day national mask mandate.

“It’ll be the polar opposite of what you’re seeing now,” said COVID-19 response advisor Nicole Lurie. “I think the social penalties for non-mask wearing will be great. Instead of people being ridiculed for wearing masks, they’ll be pressured in the other direction. It’ll be hard to be in a meeting and not wear a mask or social distance.”

It all sounds great for public health, but the image of someone coming in to spray down everything that Trump and his cronies might have touched right after he leaves to make the White House fit for living in has many amused.

“I’m assuming this was planned long before the pandemic,” wrote comedian Matt Goldich.

Others provided visuals of ideas for further disinfecting protocols that could be taken by the transition team.
