While it’s still in the realm of subtweets and not yet confirmed, it appears there’s trouble brewing among the Backstreet Boys that might be QAnon-related.

Brian Littrell, who has said things over the past few years that make him appear to be a Trump supporter (according to a Buzzfeed rundown), invited fans to find him on Parler two days after the Capitol riot.

Parler, a social media platform that has since lost its hosting service and remains offline, was populated by alt-right and QAnon types.
That’s not to say that everyone on Parler thinks that way, but a number of people on Twitter took it that way, including one disappointed fan who drew her own conclusions and said, “I can’t believe I’ve been supporting a Nazi for half my life.”

Fast forward to this past Wednesday, when fellow Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson (and Littrell’s cousin) said “Interesting read” after sharing a Cosmopolitan article on his Twitter feed titled “I Lost a Best Friend to QAnon.”
Richardson apparently did some reading in the past few days, tweeting another article just seven minutes after the first one, titled, “The Unlikely Connection Between Wellness Influencers and the Pro-Trump Rioters” (again, from Cosmpolitan).

At least one fan saw the tweets as subtweets directed at Littrell. “So, basically what you’re saying,” said a fan who has “bsb” as part of her username, “is that certain family members of yours has had too much time to sit and stew about the beliefs he already had? I think you’re right Kev but it’s still done alot of dammage (sic). It was not well thought out on his part as a bsb.”

Another Backstreet Boy, Howie Dorough, posted an idyllic sunset-over-lake scene Thursday saying, “Here’s to sunnier days ahead.” Whether that’s a subtweet directed to his fellow bandmates or just general well-wishing, is hard to say.
And plenty of people were there to either share or make the “Backstreet’s back, ALT-RIGHT!” joke that was just sitting there waiting to be made.
