It’s unclear what legal or political repercussions those involved in inciting violence at the Capitol might face in the near future, if any, but other pushback has already begun.

Simon & Schuster announced Thursday that it would no longer be publishing a book by Josh Hawley, the Missouri Senator who embarrassed himself, his state, and his party by not only jumping at the chance to challenge the results of a legitimate election, but refused to back down even after terrorists attacked in support of his motion.

In a statement, the publisher made it clear that the decision to pull Hawley’s book came “after witnessing the disturbing, deadly insurrection” in Washington, D.C.
“As a publisher it will always be our mission to amplify a variety of voices and viewpoints; at the same time we take seriously our larger public responsibility as citizens, and cannot support Senator Hawley after his role in what became a dangerous threat to our democracy and freedom,” they said.
Hawley blasted Simon & Schuster for being part of the “woke mob,” grasping at alt-right rhetoric in a blatant attempt to harness the same support Trump has had all these years to save his own quickly dying political career.
“This could not be more Orwellian,” he wrote, claiming he stands for “voter integrity” that “they have now decided to redefine as sedition.”
“It’s a direct assault on the First Amendment,” Hawley ranted. “Only approved speech will now be published. This is the Left looking to cancel everyone they don’t approve of.”

Hawley is no Trump. He’s no Ted Cruz. His name is unknown and his career is tanking before it even truly began. He doesn’t have an army of defenders ready to march at his beck and call, no matter how many familiar buzzwords he uses to spark outrage.
What he’s left with, instead, is the mockery of the people who see him for exactly what he is.
