A homophobic encounter at a KFC drive-through left one Illinois couple uneasy while they were just trying to do their jobs.

Footage from the night picks up in the middle of the altercation, so it’s unclear how exactly everything started, but it’s perfectly clear the employee has a problem with the men in the car.

“I don’t give a f—k about no video, this isn’t the first time I’ve been on it,” he says.
The driver asks some sort of question that ends with “why?” to which the worker responds: “Why? Because you’re f—king queer.”
The tone in the car immediately changes, with both driver and passenger clearly taken aback by the homophobic tone.
“So you just called me a queer?” the driver asks.
“I just called you a queer,” he confirms.

Someone in the backseat fires back at the employee, calling him a “fat-ass bitch.”
“We’re really gay,” the passenger tries to explain. “That’s the thing, though. You can’t do that.”
The KFC worker says that he “doesn’t give a f—k” if they’re gay, before doubling down: “This motherf—ker looks queer, so he can get the f—k out of here.”
A manager finally comes by and shuts the window, even as the employee throws a “fag” into his mix of slurs.

According to WAND17, the men in the front seat of the vehicle were Joshua Garner and his partner, Lee Walls, and they were at the restaurant to pickup a DoorDash order when everything began.
“It was like a shot to the heart, like a bullet to the heart,” Garner said. “It was like we couldn’t say anything and the only person who could stick up and protect us was my little brother in the backseat.”

While the video itself doesn’t seem to present management as particularly interested in chastising the slur-slinging employee, after it went viral, KFC confirmed that the employee had been terminated over the incident.
