The pro-Trump actor tweeted out a photo of Pepe Le Pew on Wednesday, along with the hashtag #RIPPepeLePew and a suggestion that his lifespan occurred between 1945 and 2021.

Conservatives have been really struggling to deal with the “cancelation” of Looney Tunes character Pepe Le Pew, which is fascinating considering how few of them seemed interested in him prior to the announcement that he would no longer appear in Space Jam 2.
And that’s pretty much the extent of the “cancelation.” He’s not in a sequel to a movie that came out several decades ago. Warner Brothers has also announced that he’s not included in any upcoming projects either, but that can likely be said of most obscure cartoon characters that once made an appearance on Looney Tunes back in the day.

If Woods’ in memoriam to Le Pew is to be believed, the skunk’s 76 year lifespan seems like a long enough time for a cartoon character with exactly one schtick — aggressively groping other characters as they struggle to get away. Most characters created 76 years ago, cartoon or not, certainly aren’t getting their own movies or TV shows today.
But outrage against “cancel culture” is all the rage among conservatives, and apparently Woods is among those who believe going to bat for a mostly forgotten cartoon character that promotes rape culture will help progress their fear-based agenda.
Everyone else, meanwhile, just thinks it’s pretty hilarious.

If you’re really jonesing for some Pepe Le Pew in your life, you can watch any of the original shows and movies he has already appeared in. Sometimes characters simply don’t have a place in modern entertainment, and that’s…normal.
And no, “cancel culture” isn’t coming for Bugs Bunny next.
