Everyone has something to say about the interview Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave Oprah about their decision to break away from the Royal Family, but it basically always seems to boil down to praise or criticism of Markle herself.

Megyn Kelly was among those who had some harsh words for the Duchess of Sussex.

“She’s painting herself in adorations while she was making complaints that will be totally unrelatable to 99% of people,” Kelly told Good Morning Britain, calling Markle “un-self-aware.”

“‘I wasn’t planning on saying anything shocking, except my husband’s racist family almost drove me to suicidal thoughts while I was pregnant while I was pregnant with my baby,’” she mocked.

Kelly also took aim at Markle’s comment that she’s not attached to the “grandeur” that comes with her title, noting that she had a fancy wedding — as if anything less would have been acceptable or within her control.

And all of this was after Kelly spent time on Twitter “dissecting” the interview with critical take after critical take.

Naturally, the people who already find problems with every single Markle does lauded Kelly for her comments, praising her for “seeing through” the interview.

But honestly, it’s tiresome. Constantly picking apart a woman who is in a position that is, in Kelly’s own words, completely “unrelatable to 99% of people” just seems utterly pointless, and the fixation high-profile people like Kelly have with doing so because it will get them attention is pretty transparent itself.

As Kelly also opted to criticize the interview skills of Oprah — freakin’ OPRAH — along with her criticisms of Markle, it was difficult not to be reminded of her history with racism.

Why anyone brought Kelly on to speak about the Harry and Meghan interview is just baffling, unless it was simply that they wanted to ensure they’d end up broadcasting out-of-touch opinions from someone with no idea what they’re talking about. If that’s what they were going for, Good Morning Britain certainly succeeded.
