A video clip shared by comedian Blaire Erskine shows a news report about a man who came down with a serious case of COVID-19 to the point where he felt like he couldn’t breathe but was saved by God. Clay Bentley of Georgia says he “felt God blowing my lungs” at that point, by which we assume he meant blowing into his lungs.

“So during the night it got really heavy and I got to the point where I couldn’t breathe at all,” Bentley said. “And I felt the Lord. I felt God blowing my lungs. And what happened when he blew in my lungs, I felt all that fluid just leave.”

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Bentley was one of the first people in the state to contract COVID-19. At age 60, his condition became serious and he was admitted to the intensive care unit at Redmond Medical Center due to the amount of fluid in his lungs. He was told he would be put on a ventilator in the morning, but overnight, Bentley claims that this miracle happened.

He was sent home a few days later and fully recovered. Though he still carries some antibodies from his initial infection, he is eligible to receive the vaccine in order to ensure greater immunity against the virus. However, Bentley doesn’t want it, because he’d rather take his chances with the God breathe cure again.
“I personally don’t think they know enough about these vaccines for me to feel safe in taking them,” he told the local news.
“I’m a man of faith. And I know if God brought me through it the first time, he’ll bring me through it again”
It is very much possible that Bentley could end up in isolation in the hospital again, as there have been multiple cases of re-infection. Studies on this are still ongoing, though one from January did find that 95 percent of people who had survived COVID-19 had “at least 3 out of 5 immune-system components that could recognize SARS-CoV-2 up to 8 months after infection.”

Unfortunately, studies have also found that even people who have been fully vaccinated could still end up with the virus in their system and potentially spread it to others even if they don’t exhibit any symptoms. Many in the U.S. seem to have trouble with the concept that catching COVID-19 isn’t just a danger to them alone, but to anyone who comes into contact with them.
On the bright side, at least we can all have a little laugh over the idea of God blowing this guy’s lungs, which God himself denies.
