Founder of the far-right anti-government group the Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, continues to have problems after it was revealed that the organization was heavily involved in the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol and has provided security for cartoon rich guy villain come to life Roger Stone.

It appears that Rhodes is having trouble letting go of an old marriage, but his estranged wife, Tasha Adams, is looking to try and finalize their divorce so she doesn’t have to be associated with this guy anymore.

Unfortunately, Rhodes graduated from Yale Law (in part thanks to Adams supporting him through school) and, in Adams’ words, “also commands their own private army,” and lawyers don’t come cheap. She now has a GoFundMe campaign asking for a total of $30,000 to pay off her old divorce lawyers who dropped her for inability to pay and for a new lawyer “willing to be my huckleberry.”

“For obvious reasons I am very very hesitant to go public with this, but after a whole lot of thought, I feel I just can not move forward any other way,” wrote Adams on GoFundMe. “I am feeling a bit embolden by the spotlight now on the STBX, and without going into specifics I’m hoping that keeps anything too crazy from happening.”
“Though I can’t talk about the details of my marriage here, I can tell you that it was likely about exactly what you’re picturing, but probably quite a bit weirder.”

Rhodes formed the Oath Keepers in 2009, claiming it to be a group of U.S. soldiers and veterans who would vow to uphold whatever they think the constitution says/means, even if it means defying orders. They are fiercely against any form of gun control.
The Southern Poverty Law Center does not seem to think it’s a coincidence that the group formed shortly after the inauguration of the nation’s first Black president and includes quotes from Rhodes calling for the hanging of the late Senator John McCain, comparing Hillary Clinton to Hitler, and being very Islamophobic after the Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016.
They were also present at the Charlottesville “Unite the Right” rally that ended in the death of Heather Heyer and have stood in opposition to many Black Lives Matter protests.
The Oath Keepers were some of the men seen in photos and videos from the day of the assault on the Capitol in camouflage with military gear and zip-tie handcuffs. Rhodes himself has not been charged and appears to have stayed outside the building on that day, but prosecutors against his underlings have revealed text messages showing that he was in communication with them shortly before and after they ransacked the place.

BuzzFeed News was able to obtain court records showing that Adams filed for divorce and petitioned for a temporary order of protection in 2018 on the grounds that Rhodes was emotionally and physically abusive with her and their six children. The petition states that he at one point grabbed their teen daughter “by the throat” and on multiple occasions threatened to kill himself by pointing a loaded gun at his own head, telling Adams that, in her words, “my behavior has caused this.”
For whatever reason, this petition was denied. Today, Adams is still struggling to care for four out of six of their children.
