Singer and songwriter Nahscha took a break from posting fun and positive reactions to her singing in the New York subway system to highlight a woman who fancied herself a music critic that day when nobody had asked her to perform that role in that moment. A fan caught the woman on video publicly panning Nahscha’s singing abilities as she rode the escalator down where she wouldn’t have to be held accountable for this rude and unnecessary commentary.

“Your voice is like eh ehhhh,” the woman says while giving a thumbs down. “Don’t sing anymore.”

“Thank you,” Nahscha replies to laughs from the woman and her companions.

Though she appears largely unfazed by the criticism in the video, Nahscha decided to post it to her many thousands of followers as an example of how not to be to other human beings.

“I don’t post this for sympathy. I just hope it reminds someone to think before they speak unecessary [sic]/rude/hateful/condescending comments towards others,” she wrote in a video caption. “You never know what people are going through. Please do your best to radiate positive energy and be kind. Karma is real and nobody likes a bully.”

Nahscha’s videos of her subway performances and people dancing and singing along typically gain hundreds of thousands of views each, but this one racked up over 7.8 million in the space of two days as people spread her cautionary message against unsolicited public criticism. It also now has over 760,000 likes and over 10,000 mostly supportive comments from people who are tired of people who think everybody needs to hear their opinions at all times.

“Perfect example of someone spewing release of the hate they feel inside,” said one commenter. “YOU KEEP GOING. You’re amazing.”

“Tune it out friend,” said another. “People who forfeited their dreams out of fear are always the first to criticize those living the life they wish they could have.”

Nahscha recently released her own single, “The Lottery,” complete with music video after gaining a substantial fanbase covering hits from fellow artists like Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande in the subway for local residents to enjoy completely free of charge. Those who don’t particularly enjoy Nahscha’s voice can go about their day without acting like their individual opinion is objective truth.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only time Nahscha has been forced to deal with a self-anointed critic down in the subway system. She didn’t get the hater on video, but in late March posted a TikTok describing one individual who just told her that she sucks.

“Never let anyone ruin ya vibes,” Nahscha wrote before taking her own advice.
