Georgia’s recent attempts at voter suppression have caused an uproar across the country. Corporations are condemning the move, the MLB is yanking events, and Republicans are suddenly angry that privately owned businesses responding to the market isn’t something that’s working out in their favor.

Despite spending the last two months bemoaning “cancel culture,” Republicans have now turned their attention to canceling the companies that aren’t behaving in the way they want, calling for boycotts of Coca-Cola, baseball, Delta, and any other corporation that stands against the attempts to make voting more difficult for Georgians.

And of course former president Donald Trump decided to throw his weight around and join them — though it isn’t working out too well for him so far.
“Baseball is already losing tremendous numbers of fans, and now they leave Atlanta with their All-Star Game because they are afraid of the Radical Left Democrats who do not want voter I.D., which is desperately needed, to have anything to do with our elections,” he said in a statement that went out last week.
“Boycott baseball and all of the woke companies that are interfering with Free and Fair Elections,” Trump continued. “Are you listening Coke, Delta, and all!”

From the start, no one was convinced Trump’s call to boycott Coca-Cola would end in success. The one-term president is famous for his unhealthy obsession with Diet Coke, and no one in their right mind would ever accuse him of making choices based on principle.
But when his former advisor Stephen Miller, best remembered for his ties to white nationalism, tweeted out a photo of him with Trump on Monday, it was still hilarious to see a Coke bottle poorly hidden in the corner of 45’s desk.

Again: this could not be less surprising. Trump has embodied “do what I say, not what I do” for his entire political career, and anyone who believes differently is a chump.
But that hasn’t stopped everyone from dunking on him for putting forth so little effort in concealing his hypocrisy.

Trump has yet to respond to the faux pas on Twitter — oh wait, he can’t, because he’s still banned from Twitter forever.
Seems like reason enough to “have a Coke and a smile.”
