Heinous Viral Video Of The Ocean On Fire Has People Rightfully Freaked Out

Early on Friday, the ocean caught fire, because there are yet more signs of the apocalypse we haven’t yet encountered. The fire was in the Gulf of Mexico by the Yucatan peninsula, and the state oil company Pemex has said it was started by a gas leak from an underwater pipeline, Reuters reports.

The visuals of the flaming waters were striking, to say the least, and quickly went viral all over social media as people shared the terrifying eye of Sauron peering up from the sea.

There are no reported injuries, but Pemex said it took five hours to fully put out. The pipeline that was broken connects to the flagship Ku Maloon Zaap oil development, which is just up from the souther rim. right orange flames jumping out of water resembling molten lava was dubbed an “eye of fire” on social media due to the blaze’s circular shape, as it raged a short distance from a Pemex oil platform.

The pipeline was shut down, but this is not the first time Pemex has been the sight of major industrial accidents. The head of the country’s oil safety regulator ASEA, Angel Carrizales tweeted that the burst didn’t “generate any spill.” But have just been flammable sea water, then!

The Pemex incident report blamed the break by saying, “The turbomachinery of Ku Maloob Zaap’s active production facilities were affected by an electrical storm and heavy rains,” and it was nitrogen that was used to put out the fire, not yet more water. Sounds great for the environment.
