The same New York “Karen” who was filmed harassing people riding skateboards and bikes for no discernible reason was recently caught on film trying multiple times to lure someone’s dog into a busy road to get hit because the dog was not on a leash. The woman also seemed to have made racist comments to the owners before the filming started, and later asks the stranger filming her whether they use leashes “in your country.”

Although New York does require all dogs to be on leashes in public spaces and unleashed dogs can and do cause problems, the repeated act of trying to lure someone’s pet to be hit by a car and very likely killed was so objectively awful that a random bystander stopped what she was doing to tell this Karen off.

The video starts with the Karen asking what appears to be a random couple with a dog if they’ve ever heard of a leash. It’s difficult to understand everything over the sound of the traffic, but Karen suggests that they wait for the police to come clear things up before the man filming accuses her of a common form of racism found in the U.S.
“Which country should I go back to, Karen?” he says. “Huh? Say it. Cat got your tongue?”
The woman first mocks him and then dares him to “edit it out,” which confused us as much as it did the man taking the video. But rather than answering what exactly he should “edit out” of the video in which she’s only so far acted like a smug racist, she claps her hands, raises her voice an octave, and runs out toward the busy street, calling for the dog to follow her into traffic.
A passing bystander is horrified by this behavior and steps up to denounce it.

“I’m just passing by, and you’re actually trying to instigate a dog to go into the middle of a highway,” she says. “What kind of problem do you have, lady?”
Karen then dares everyone to “put it out there that you walk around without your dog on a leash,” likely referring to the video that’s being recorded and suggesting that she might be aware of the reputation she’s gained around the city of being everyone’s least favorite unpaid cop. Other videos have spread of the same woman trying and repeatedly failing to stand in the way of young people trying to skateboard in open areas free of foot traffic as well as people riding their bikes around.
The woman in the dog video laughs as she’s accused of racism until it skips forward to her asking the man filming if “you don’t put a leash in your country?”
“Oh yeah, which country is that?” he shoots back.
Instead of answering, Karen again tries to lure the dog into traffic, and this time the pup can be seen running toward the street as the owner panics and calls him back. Later, Karen is spotted talking to an NYPD officer in their car, but they don’t appear to think the issue is serious enough to warrant getting out of the vehicle.
Nobody can seem to figure out what this woman’s problem is other than apparently having appointed herself to police the city on minor issues, causing safety problems wherever she goes. This video and others landed on Reddit’s Public Freakout forum where commenters widely agreed that this is not the way to enforce leash laws, regardless of whether you have an actual badge or not.

“There’s a way to tell someone to put a leash on their dog,” said one commenter. “This isn’t it.”
“HOW MANY TIMES! Am I gonna see this lady,” asked another. “I’ve seen three separate videos of her chasing down skateboarders. What a miserable existence.”
