Put your seats in the upright position because Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren has dubbed flight attendants the “Nazis of the air” for enforcing company policies on mask wearing on flights as is required by their jobs, which were not easy even before the pandemic. While reporting on a fight that broke out at a Detroit airport among a nationwide trend of aggressive behavior among airline passengers that seems to be linked to certain individuals not wanting to wear a certain type of thing on their face, Lahren praised flight attendants out of one side of her mouth before immediately calling some of the Nazis.

“I don’t honestly ever do this, but I will say there are so many good flight attendants out there,” said Lahren, who is the one on the bottom right if you were unsure. “But there are some flight attendants that take their job as the mask police to an extreme, becoming almost Nazis of the air.”

She specifically complained about attendants who tell people to wear their masks right instead of letting them fall below their nose, which again only seems to consistently happen with a certain type of person when they can’t avoid wearing one.
She also whined about these airline employees “constantly getting mad at you,” so we get the feeling that this problem has been rather personal to Tomi, because even Kayleigh McEnany, fresh off of her job of being Trump’s Secretary of Hostility to the Press, said she didn’t have that problem in spite of flying all the time.
Lahren is just another right-wing pundit in an increasingly long line of conservatives who have in some way compared pandemic precautions and company policies to the Holocaust and Nazi Germany in spite of all the Jewish people explaining repeatedly that this is an extremely offensive comparison. Prior to the pandemic, Republicans still had a recurring issue with comparing anyone enforcing rules they happen to not like to Nazis and having to obey said rules rather than being allowed to ignore them because of race and class privilege to genocide.
The Fox Nation segment ended with Lahren essentially blaming the aggression from passengers on flight attendants and airline mask rules in general, claiming that all these problems would go away if the rules were lifted. Unfortunately for all of us, new variants of the virus keep appearing that are increasingly likely to overcome the vaccine, and airplanes, with their enclosed and shared airspace, are particularly vulnerable to spreading viruses.

While a resurgence in the pandemic seems inevitable (and already in progress in some areas) thanks in large part to Fox News and its pundits, at least now Tomi will forever be known as the “Nazis of the air” lady.
