Yet another case of a far-right Republican getting fooled into thinking someone acting excited and decked out in American flags is a real fan before realizing they’ve been punk’d is circulating Twitter, courtesy of political prankster and comedian Walter Masterson. This time, Masterson got a two-for-one deal, finding both Rep. Matt Gaetz and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on a beach and ruining both their days in the space of 15 seconds.

In the video, Masterson, dressed entirely in American flag regalia, pretends that he can’t believe his luck in running into the pair. Greene and Gaetz go to pose with thumbs up for a photo but lose their own enthusiasm when Masterson starts listing the things that critics have been saying about them.

“Oh my god, I’m so excited! I mean, everyone thinks you’re crazy, I don’t think you’re crazy,” says Masterson to Greene before turning to Gaetz. “People think you’re a pedophile, I don’t think you’re a pedophile at all. I don’t think he’s a pedophile at all. The charges against you are totally false! They’re totally false!”
It’s difficult to determine exactly what is the best part of this video. Front runners include the dying of the light in Gaetz’s eyes when he hears the word “pedophile,” realizing that he’s being pranked as Masterson puts his arm around him, and the fact that it seems to take Greene significantly longer to get that something is amiss.
Masterson stays in character as security for the representatives removes his arm from Gaetz and pushes him away, allowing the comedian to make the claim that what made Gaetz so upset was someone saying that he is not a pedophile.
Gaetz is still currently under investigation for his involvement in a human trafficking operation that connected him and other lawmakers with young women, as well as at least one underage girl, to exchange sexual favors for substantial monetary payments. The man who directly connected Gaetz with these women and girls has confessed to these and other crimes and has heavily implicated the congressman as he works with investigators.

People who are opposed to the practice of human trafficking are, predictably, loving this video.
