There are certain Democrats who seem to be secretly on the take with the Republican party, based on the way they vote in Congress. While there may be no money involved, the GOP sure knows what a favor people like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are doing them. Several Republican lawmakers were secretly filmed at an event for conservative activists, telling them to thank both those legislators, Business Insider reports, specifically for refusing to end the filibuster.

Democratic activist Lauren Windsor shared the video on Friday, which was taken on June 29th at an event called Patriot Voices in Washington D.C.

First, Rick Santorum talks about how the filibuster is one of the only things keeping the GOP agenda afloat, and that they need to work to prevent any social programs from passing.
“It’s a lot easier to pass giveaways than it is to take them away. And everybody thinks, ‘Oh, well, you know, we’ll just take them away,’” he says. “No, we won’t! No, we won’t.”
Then Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona stepped up to recommend that everyone give Sinema and Manchin their thanks. “But thank goodness for Sinema and Joe Manchin,” he says.
Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida then tells activists to give them a call.
“All of you in this room, people at home on Zoom, let me tell you right now, if you want to do one thing to keep the republic afloat, call Joe Manchin’s office, call Kyrsten Sinema’s office,” he said.
Santorum posted a statement on the Patriot Voices website Friday, commenting on the video.
“While it was officially off-the-record, we always knew bloggers would probably be listening but wanted to create a space where we could have a conversation about important issues,” he said. “We also are proud to have mentioned several Democratic Senators because we still believe that we should work together from time to time. Our country is worth the bipartisan effort.”
One person angry with the video is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is mentioned in the video as the person driving her fellow Democrats to vote along with the Republican agenda:
