Republicans have officially voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership roles after being one of a few in the party to vote to impeach Donald Trump for inciting the riot at the Capitol on January 6. Cheney remains undeterred, however, and has promised to do everything in her power to stop Trump from returning to the White House in 2024 and beyond.

“I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office,” she said. “We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution. And I think it is very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution.”

She further warned that continuing down the path of supporting Trump could lead to the destruction of the Republican party and, ultimately, the destruction of the nation.

According to The Washington Post, Cheney has been less focused on saving her seat as the conference chair and more focused on planning something of an anti-Trump tour “meant to drive home her case that Trump is unfit for a role in the Republican Party.”

Considering these details, it’s no wonder that Trump seems to hate her so much. Minutes after Cheney was voted out as chair by the Republicans, he released one of his inane “statements” from his fake former president “office” completely trashing her in classic Trump form.

“Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being,” the statement reads. “I watched her yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican Party. She has no personality or anything good having to do with politics or our Country. She is a talking point for Democrats, whether that means the Border, the gas lines, inflation, or destroying our economy.”

To be clear, Cheney is a dedicated Republican who continues to be in favor of things like the Border Patrol and doing nothing to fight climate change, but actual policy never interested Trump very much unless he was personally affected by it.

The continuing dedication to Trump among Republican leadership could soon spell disaster for the party, as predicted by Cheney, as over 100 members are expected to sign and publish a letter threatening to split and create a 3rd party if said leadership refuses to break with the former president.

“The Republican Party is broken,” said Republican organizer Miles Taylor. “It’s time for a resistance of the ‘rationals’ against the ‘radicals.’”
