Ted Cruz Caught Tweeting About Dr. Pepper While Amy Klobuchar Rips Him Over Election Fraud Lies

It’s difficult to think of a sitting member of Congress who repeatedly shows more blatant disrespect for his constituents, his colleagues, and the American people in general than Ted Cruz. The only thing he ever seems to show any interest in is trying to “own the libs” on Twitter with half-assed memes and incendiary statements riddled with falsehoods and omissions.

So it isn’t exactly surprising that he didn’t even care enough to pay attention during a debate and voting session for a committee he sits on, opting instead to spend his time scrolling through social media.

Video from Tuesday’s meeting of the Senate Rules Committee shows Cruz focused entirely on his phone as the committee chair, Amy Klobuchar, called him out by name as part of her comments on the Democratic election reform bill.

“…when in fact, you, Senator Cruz — not all of your colleagues here today — you were contesting the electoral college,” Klobuchar said in part, staring directly at an unresponsive Cruz. “You were…one of the leaders on the effort to say that the election results were not correct. And so you wonder why we want to make sure that people have the right to vote.”

Cruz finally checks in at the end of her remarks, so that he can chime in with some of his own, leaving us with two possibilities—that he wasn’t paying attention until he decided he wanted to say something, or that he was listening but purposely showing Klobuchar disrespect by trying to appear distracted.

Either option seems perfectly aligned with Cruz’s consistently self-centered and churlish behavior, and even though it never seems to make an impact, people still called him out on it.

That’s performative rudeness, like a teenager purposely and ostentatiously refusing to to pay attention in class. And that’s about his level.

Sen. Klobuchar was talking directly to Sen. Cruz and he was disrespectfully playing/looking at his cellphone. Sen. Klobuchar was talking about voting rights for Americans, a right that Cruz is trying to kill.

Ted Cruz is a troll. He performs stunts for the cameras (like pretending to fall asleep) to get attention. He treats being a Senator like being on a Reality TV show. Yes, he is that trivial.

Based on time stamps, The Recount ultimately determined that when Cruz should’ve been doing his job, he was instead spending that time tweeting about Diet Dr. Pepper.

Seems like a guy who really cares about the issues effecting the American people.
