Trump-Linked Social Media Site GETTR Flooded With Trolls And Hentai

Shortly after it was revealed that a new alternative social media platform/Twitter clone on the market was created by a team led by former Donald Trump campaign spokesperson Jason Miller, GETTR found its anti-censorship policy being put to the test.

Specifically, it was absolutely flooded with anime porn and other explicit images, including ones that depict Hillary Clinton’s face on nude bodies — one of the last things we would expect Trump fans to want to see — in addition to other forms of spam.

QAnon believers who flocked to the platform are now reportedly angry at the lack of moderation to censor trolls posting various sexual and generally gross images in their tags at a rate vastly outpacing serious posts.

Currently, attempts to access the QAnon hashtag on GETTR leads to a blank screen. Related hashtags are full of trolls posing as the most hated politicians among the far-right making sexually explicit comments or people simply stating that Trump lost the 2020 election and they should get over it. The welcome message from the official support account now has over 90,000 comments that are overwhelmingly spam linking back to Twitter or images that you do not want to see.

GETTR via Twitter

GETTR was launched in the middle of June with few people noticing until Politico reported on the platform’s ties to Trump, leading people to wonder if this is the new social media website that the former president had teased in his little statements after he was banned from Twitter and every other decent platform. Trump has not claimed GETTR, and probably will not unless Miller’s team can implement a program to filter out trolls and lewd images as mainstream social sites do.

The terms of service for GETTR do state that the company can and will “address” content that they find to be pornographic, as well as anything “offensive, obscene, lewd, lavicious, filthy… violent, harassing, threatening, abusive, illegal, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate.” This might seem to be contradictory to the platform’s claim that it holds freedom of speech as a “core value.”

It seems likely that this freedom on GETTR only applies to the ability to spread QAnon conspiracy theories and lies about COVID-19 without getting a warning label. If they don’t get the porn problem under control soon, the app may find itself kicked off of Google Play and the Apple App Store. Meanwhile, Twitter users are watching the new platform go down in flames with glee.
