Forget about the forged vaccine cards people are trying to sell for a second, because someone got their hands on a photo of something worse — a card that declares the carrier to have been “Vaccinated by the Lord.” It features a check-marked box reading “Protected by The Antibody of Jesus Christ Our Lord,” which seems to be a play on the “body of Christ” line typically heard during Christian communion.

It also directs people to Isaiah 53: 4-5 in the Bible, which states (in the King James version): “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

“You have been Vaccinated by Christ,” the card further reads. “His Blood Protects From All!”

It would be nice if true, but unfortunately belief in the Christian Jesus has never stopped people from contracting dangerous viruses, becoming sick, and dying, or from passing that virus on to others.
It’s unclear where the card originally came from or even whether it was intended to be serious, but people familiar with U.S. Evangelical Christians could be forgiven for assuming that there is absolutely no irony to be found here. Regardless, you can bet there’s enough jokes about the image on Twitter now to fill its own Bible.
