It isn’t a day on the internet without some dudes completely missing the point of a joke and jumping straight to the predictable “actually…” when insisting upon responding.

One of the most recent examples of such eye roll-worthy interactions came after Twitter user @DankAckroyd made a fairly obvious joke about a Fleetwood Mac song.
“Never been into Fleetwood Mac but just heard a song where they start playing a cover of the theme from Formula One at the end love it lads let’s have Grandstand next, please,” she wrote.

For those who aren’t in the know, the joke is that “the theme from Formula One” (or the BBC’s coverage of the racing event) is actually an instrumental portion of Fleetwood Mac’s song “The Chain,” released in 1977.
It’s hard to believe anyone who fits the crossover fandom of Fleetwood Mac and Formula One — enough to comment on the joke — wouldn’t have heard some variation of this in the past. Joking that original songs are covers or that you thought a cover was the original are standard Twitter fodder, basically designed to stir up the trolls, and most people have gotten wise to it over the years.
But not guys replying to @DankAckroyd.

Fortunately, others were ready to jump in with their own jokes to make everything even more confusing.

And some just straight up went off about the reply guys.

Well, at least there are some things in this world that we know we can always count on to be painfully predictable.
