Taking young children out in public can be a stressful situation for parents. Getting them to behave isn’t always an easy task, nor is keeping them entertained. And not everyone around has the patience to put up with strangers’ kids.

TikToker Giovanna Plowman definitely fell into the latter camp during a recent excursion to The Cheesecake Factory, where she felt some of the children present were just making things difficult for everyone.

A video she uploaded of her night out mentioned “trying to enjoy this moment” but then panned to the nearby floor, where a child sat surrounded by the remains of empty Sweet ’N Low packets and plastic straws. Another child was walking up to join her as Plowman turned the camera back to her own face.

“It’s the parents not doing absolutely anything for me,” she said.

According to her caption, the servers had been “trampling over” the children while the parents were “giving THEM dirty looks.” She also said the kids were making a lot of noise, or as she put it, “mindless screaming.”

The societal debate over whether parents are responsible for making sure their young kids don’t disrupt other people’s nights out vs whether the rest of us should just be more understanding is generally a fierce one, but viewers were pretty firmly in the “do something about your children” camp after watching this particular video.

“I don’t understand how they’re just allowing them to do whatever, it’s really embarrassing and just shows what kinda parents they are,” wrote @salmonella916.

@sunnislabss seemed to agree, noting that “it’s just so dangerous for the workers and kids.”

“I honestly would refuse service as a server,” @circklektweaker claimed. “Their kids are just pouring sugar on the floor.”

“I would get up and purposely fall on them and then make them feel bad,” another user said.
