A TikTok posted to Will Smith’s page before the Oscars has some people wondering if we should have seen the slap that’s taken over social media conversations coming.

Smith posted video of him with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, after they got all dressed up for the award ceremony. The clip utilized existing audio, which featured a man saying “Good morning everyone. God has let me live another day and I am about to make it everyone’s problem.”

Only a few hours later, Smith had a violent reaction to a lame joke presenter Chris Rock made at Jada’s expense during the show, walked up on stage, and slapped him in the face.
“Keep my wife’s name out your f—king mouth,” he yelled at the comedian.
It’s been the only thing the internet has talked about ever since.
It was such an outrageous and surprising moment that initially, folks wondered if it might have been staged. Most people eventually came to decide it was too dramatic to have been a planned moment, and Rock’s difficulty figuring out how to proceed after Smith slapped him suggested he was just as surprised as the rest of us.
But some people are pointing to Smith’s TikTok, captioned “Me ’n @jadapinkettsmith got all dressed up to choose chaos,” as a sign that we should have seen something coming.
“This did not age well,” one viewer commented on the video after the Oscars incident.
“This hits different now,” said another.

Some people are still clinging to the possibility that the whole thing was staged, and the TikTok ultimately only provides a little more fuel to that particular fire. Whatever the real story is, throwing the TikTok into the mix at least makes for an interesting addition to the narrative.
