AOC Sets GOP Critics Straight Over Vanity Fair Photoshoot

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez found herself the subject of conservative ire over something absolutely ridiculous, yet again.

This time around, the Congresswoman took flack after she graced the cover of Vanity Fair, where she discussed an array of topics from the patriarchy to her upbringing to how the United States financially upholds the rich and lets everyone else down. But the criticism wasn’t aimed at her words so much as it was the outfit she wore for the photoshoot.

According to estimates, her clothing cost around $14,000 — something critics called hypocritical, considering she spent a good portion of the article talking about her past financial struggles and at one point blasted President Trump for paying only $750 in taxes.

The price tag soon circulated around social media, with conservatives slamming AOC for pushing socialist ideals while wearing nice clothes.

This is too reminiscent of that time AOC was criticized for spending $300 on a haircut — in other words, just as these people didn’t understand how much haircuts cost, they don’t understand how magazine shoots work.

Thinking that AOC bought the clothes herself, or even kept them after the shoot, is absolutely laughable, as is the idea that Vanity Fair needed to provide her with thrift store finds for a photoshoot in order to nix any hypocrisy. And the Congresswoman was quick to fire back at her critics for their willful ignorance.

And the internet largely had her back against the swath of conservative condemnation, no matter how absurd it clearly was.

And these two tweets pretty much sum up why there’s no hypocrisy happening on AOC’s part simply because she wore the clothes provided for her during a photoshoot:
