We could use all the good news we can get this year, and as usual, Krispy Kreme is contributing to that effort. As the COVID-19 vaccine efforts continue to expand across the U.S., the bakery and coffee chain is promising free original donuts to anybody who comes into their stores and shows a card proving that they had been vaccinated.

You only get one per day, per location, but you could conceivably go to different Krispy Kreme stores on the same day to score as many free donuts as you can drive to.

No rush, though, because this offer will continue through the entire year of 2021. Hopefully, we’ll all be vaccinated by then — at least those of us who want to be.
“We’d like to show sweet support to those who have received the COVID-19 Vaccine,” the company tweeted. “Starting today, bring your Vaccine Card to a Krispy Kreme shop and get 1 FREE Original Glazed doughnut. No chance to get your Vaccine? This will run thru end of 2021.”

In order to qualify for this offer, you will have to show a card declaring that you’ve either received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine or both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. Through May 24, you can also get a free medium coffee with that.
According to the Krispy Kreme press release on the offer, the company will also continue delivering free donuts to healthcare workers and volunteers who are working around the clock to distribute the vaccine. They’re also providing their workers with an additional four hours of paid time off in order to make sure they can get their own vaccine without getting hit in the paycheck.
“We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible and we want to support everyone doing their part to make the country safe by getting vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to them,” said Krispy Kreme Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena.
They also want to remind everyone that you can still buy an extra dozen donuts for just $1 after buying your first dozen at full price to share with someone who is feeling the pandemic blues. Which is probably all of us.

Many pro-vaccine Americans have been praising Krispy Kreme for this offer, which they hope will convince more people to get the vaccine and increase the slim chances that we’ll ever reach herd immunity levels in a place with this many anti-vaxxers.
