When he was in office, former GOP House Speaker John Boehner was not a popular figure in the media, and when he retired in 2015, many of us were content to never think about him much again. After all, Donald Trump became president not long after and there was a lot to deal with, frankly.

But he was a staunch Republican (and still is) and had many friends in Congress. One person who is absolutely not John Boehner’s friend is Senator Ted Cruz, who seems to have made a lifelong enemy of Boehner. Hey, Boehner, get in line!

People have been aware of their enmity, but it’s coming up now because Boehner has just released a book called On the House: A Washington Memoir. Business Insider shared one particular section that emphasized how much the guy thinks Cruz sucks
“By 2013 the chaos caucus in the House had built up their own power base thanks to fawning right-wing media and outrage-driven fundraising cash,” Boehner wrote. “And now they had a new head lunatic leading the way, who wasn’t even a House member. There is nothing more dangerous than a reckless a–hole who thinks he is smarter than everyone else. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Senator Ted Cruz.”
Boehner seems to be positioning himself as the “sane” Republican who tried to keep them from going the way of Qanon and a conspiracy and cultural backlash motivated base.
“He [Cruz] enlisted the crazy caucus of the GOP in what was a truly dumbass idea. Not that anybody asked me,” he adds.
Boehner can also be heard in this recording about the meaning of “freedom” signing off with, “P.S. Ted Cruz go f-ck yourself.”

Please, tell us how you really feel.
So, can we blame fringe politics taking over an entire party on Ted Cruz? Probably not entirely, but a lot of people sure seem to think he’s making America worse with every year in office.
