Madonna Hits Back At Karen Who Tried To Make Her Daunte Wright Post About Gun Control

Singing legend Madonna created an Instagram post on Tuesday showing the body camera footage of now-former Officer Kim Potter shooting Daunte Wright after she claims she confused her pistol for her taser.

For whatever reason, a commenter with the Instagram handle “@karengayler” turned it into a debate on gun control in spite of the fact that Madonna’s words had little to do with that particular issue.

“This video of Daunte Wright’s shooting is deeply upsetting but equally so is Police Officer Tim Gannon’s explanation of how it was all an accident,” Madonna wrote. “The shooting officer had a taser in one hand and a handgun in the other. She warned everyone she was going to taser a handcuffed. Daunte was pulled over for a traffic violation and instead she shot and killed him! No way to fix this accident is there Tim??!!”

Many have wondered how it could be possible to mistake a gun for a taser, which is significantly lighter than a pistol as well as being shaped differently and strapped to the opposite side of a cop’s belt—particularly considering the officer’s 26 years of experience. Potter is now being charged with second-degree manslaughter for what in the best-case scenario was a negligent discharge of her gun.

No one, however, seems to be using this as a reason for stronger gun control laws, especially since we have plenty of mass shootings happening again, so it’s not like we’re short on reasons.

This Instagram Karen, however, seemed to accuse Madonna of pushing for gun control and claimed she doesn’t know how the real world works due to her celebrity status.

“I would bet you have people with guns to protect you and your family,” said Karen. “But the little people can be left unarmed. If you take the guns away criminals will ALWAYS find weapons. The rest of us innocent people will be victims. You live behind high walls with protection. You do not live in the real world. Criminals do not fear police, judges, or jail. But if we are an armed society they would fear the victims.”

Madonna did not appreciate the claims that she doesn’t understand the world outside her “walls” and rejected the idea that “criminals” and “police” are mutually exclusive.

“B—h I don’t have any security or armed guards around me,” she replied. Come see me and tell me to my face how not real my world is. I dare you. You know nothing about me or my life. The only criminals I see right now are the police who are paid to protect the people. But police are protected by judges and the criminal justice system which is a joke because there is no justice if you are a person of color.”

Madonna ended with a kicker showing that she at least knows something about real-world trends: “Of course your name is Karen.”

The singer has been a strong advocate for gun control over the years, but Karen made a mistake coming after her for it on a post about an extremely preventable killing of a young Black man.
