Conservatives Are Furious At Satirical ‘We’ll Convert Your Children’ Song By Gay Men’s Chorus

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus or (SFGMC) is composed fully of gay men, and they have their own sense of humor. That humor is not playing well with conservatives who are responding with incredible furor to a satirical song the group has been performing and posted on YouTube.

The lyrics are about “converting your children” and is titled “A Message From The Gay Community.”

The song is clearly a joke about how conservatives always think LGBTQ+ people are trying to make more gay people by influencing children with their awesome lifestyles. Here are some of the lyrics:

Someone’s gotta teach them not to hate

We’re coming for your children
We’re coming for them

There has been a ton of backlash, in part because the go-to for conservatives is to call people sex offenders, and gay men get called pedophiles a lot. This campaign was spearheaded by a Twitter user named @TimeCommando, though the original thread seems to have been taken down.

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus have now made this sick video private, where they boast about “converting” the children of conservatives.

Apparently, some of the names from the chorus can be found on the sex offender registry list, but they’re all supposedly common names and could be anyone. According to sfist.com, “the offender’s photos do not even remotely match the appearance of the choir member.” Even if there is someone in the chorus who is a registered sex offender, it’s definitely not some QAnon conspiracy-level corruption situation.

The SFGMC’s Twitter account released a statement on the controversy around their song, saying that the “far-right conservative media” have “taken the lyrics out of context to support a narrative that suits their intolerant and hateful needs.”

They also mention all the people sending them love and support. So, not everyone has gone nuts.
