Everyone on the internet was at a loss yesterday when Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp all went down for six hours.

Of course, Twitter was still up and running, and everyone immediately congregated on the bird app to try to figure out what on earth was going on and what to do with their lives without the time suck of refreshing every social media platform for new posts every three minutes, doomscrolling, and then doing it all over again.

We may not have all the details about what went down, but what we do have are all the jokes born out of that difficult time in world history. And that, in many, many, many ways, is more valuable to us than Facebook or Instagram (or WhatsApp, I guess) could ever be.
